About Us

1066 LGBT is a community-led organisation supporting LGBTQ+ people across the 1066 region of East Sussex. We exist to celebrate diversity, empower lives, and create safe, inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.
Our work centres around three key areas:

Socials – We host regular events that bring people together, foster connection, and celebrate LGBTQ+ identity in all its forms.

Wellbeing Support – We offer tailored resources and peer support to promote emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, ensuring no one feels alone.

Campaigning and Advocacy – We actively challenge inequality, promote LGBTQ+ rights, and work with local authorities to improve visibility and inclusion.

We’re proud to have built strong relationships with Sussex Police, including direct access to senior officers. This allows us to challenge the low resolution rate of hate crimes in the area and campaign for better outcomes and accountability.

At 1066 LGBT, we believe in the strength of community. Through connection, care, and collective action, we’re building a brighter, more equal future for LGBTQ+ people across our region.
